Insurance jobs.(Briefing: Employment)(Statistical table)

U.S. insurance industry payrolls dropped for the sixth consecutive month in April with the loss of 4,000 jobs--nearly double the total jobs lost in March--according to seasonally adjusted data released on May 8 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. For April, industry payrolls were 2.275 million, down from a seasonally adjusted 2.279 in March. The number of insurance jobs has contracted in eight of the past nine months. The industry lost 2,200 jobs in February, according to current BLS data.
