Fed: Qld sugar most focus on customer needs to survive

CANBERRA, Feb 29 AAP - The Queensland sugar industry needed to concentrate on meeting
customer requirements if it was to survive, the Queensland Sugar Corporation said today.

Queensland Sugar Corporation deputy chief executive Michael Bosscher said the 2000
sugar season would be difficult because of low prices.

Earlier today, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE)
said world sugar prices were forecast to average 6.1 US cents a pound in 1999-2000, down
16 per cent from the previous …
